AROUND THE BOWL

Carien Koldeweij sees her work as an expedition through the infinite possibilities of ceramic techniques. A quest for form, firing, glaze, and expressiveness. Natural structures, the contrast between exterior and interior, and the possibility of surprise,  all play a role.

This exhibition revolves around the bowl shape. Playing with silhouette, texture, and function, she elevates the bowl to a new level; from a utility object to a supporting or worn object.
