Wilma Mannsberger

Wilma Mannsberger

Wilma was born and raised in South Africa. Nature and animals remain a significant source of inspiration in her work. She specialized in charcoal drawings, with a clear preference for animals.

Charcoal is ideally suited to her working method: the material is direct and demands attention and precision. Contrast plays a significant role in her drawings. Through the use of light and shadow, Wilma creates tranquil images in which time appears to stand still and the animal takes center stage, often detached from its specific environment.

Wilma is living with her family in Breedenbroek since several years. The change of location has sharpened her perspective and further refined her style. Influences from South Africa remain visible, but are characterized by a more subdued visual language.

For the exhibition at Kerkje De Rietstap, the smallest church in the Netherlands, in Dinxperlo, a selection of charcoal drawings has been made that perfectly is fitting to the scale and atmosphere of the church.
